Liebe Freundinnen und Freunde, liebe Musikerinnen und Musiker, liebe Kreative!

Eine neue Rubrik soll auch denen eine große Chance bieten, die im Vergleich zu den bekannten Künstlern etwas weniger bekannt sind:

DER EIGENE WEG

Hiermit bieten wir Euch, den ambitionierten Elektronikmusikern / Innen, eine interessante Plattform an, wobei dies ausdrücklich nicht ein Preis für u.a. Jean-Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Kraftwerk, Vangelis & Co. sein wird, sondern vor allen Dingen für engagierte Szene-Künstler (z.B. mit CD-Kleinauflagen) und Elektronikmusiker jenseits der Charts – mit Kreativität, Spaß und Lust am Komponieren.

In den vergangenen Jahren räumten bei der Schallwelle zwar nicht immer, aber doch häufig, die „Stars“ ab. Viele Wähler kennen eher die großen Namen und deren Publikationen. Diese Situation ist uns bewusst, und auch wenn wir sie nicht ändern können, wollen wir auch EUCH eine reelle Chance geben, oben auf der Bühne zu stehen.

In der neuen Sparte “Der eigene Weg“ bieten wir Euch an, einen Titel einzureichen, der Euer Schaffen (oder aber nur Eure aktuelle Schaffensphase) am besten musikalisch repräsentiert. Dieser Titel kann ganz neu oder aus den letzten 2 bis 3 Jahren, publiziert oder nicht publiziert sein. Wichtig ist, dass er wie Eure musikalische Visitenkarte funktioniert.

Auch in dieser Sparte gibt es dann den großen Schallwelle-Preis – völlig gleichberechtigt neben den großen Auszeichnungen „Bester Künstler“ und „Beste CD“.

Wenn Ihr Interesse und Gefallen an dieser neuen Idee habt, dann schickt uns doch sehr gerne einen Track zu, am besten begleitet von ein paar Informationen zu Euch: … wer Ihr seid, wie Ihr zur Musik gekommen seid, was Eure Motivation ist. Dear Friends, dear Musicians, dear Creatives, we have set up a new category that is meant to give a chance also to musicians which are not as established as the well-known artists:

YOUR OWN WAY

We are offering a platform for ambitioned electronic musicians like you. This is explicitly not an award for Jean-Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Kraftwerk, Vangelis & co, but for engaged scene artists with small CD editions and electronic musicians that usually do not make it into the charts, but with the same level of fun and creativity for composing. It has been common in the past years that the “stars” won the majority of Schallwelle awards. Many of the voters know the “big names” and their publications better and will vote for them in case of doubt. We are aware of this situation, and while we are not able to change it, we still want to give YOU a realistic chance to be on stage and to receive an award: To participate in the new category “Your Own Way”, send us one track that represents your whole musical works or your current phase. This may be a new track or a title composed in the past two or three years, it may be a published one one that is still waiting to be published. It is important that it defines your musical profile. The prize being awarded in this category will have the same value and standing as the well-known prizes for the “Best “Artist” or “Best Album”. If you like this idea and want to take part, then send us a track. It would be perfect if it would be accompanied by some information about yourself: who you are, how did it come you started making music, what is your motivation to compose. We are looking forward to your contributions! The best way: Send to traumklang[at]arcor.de – or via Facebook a download link of a cloud (for example DropBox) with your mp3 track as well as a PDF of your Vita. If you don’t have a cloud, you can also send your files directly to the above e-mail address.

Liebe Musikfreunde,

als wir von der Schallwelle-Jury uns die neue Kategorie “Der eigene Weg” ausdachten, hofften wir auf wenigstens ein paar Einsendungen. Es sind fast fünfzig geworden, und viele kamen mit ausführlichen und liebevoll gestalteten Informationen zur Person selber – wie man zur Musik gekommen ist, welche Bedeutung sie hat und was der Antrieb zum Musik-Machen ist. Wir haben aus diesen Informationen für jeden Künstler eine Seite gestaltet – soweit vorhanden, mit Bild und Verweis auf die eigene Webseite und die bisherige Diskographie. Auch wenn das Publikum (dieses Mal?) bei “Der eigene Weg” nicht mitwählen kann, so könnt Ihr doch auf diese Weise überlegen, wer Euer persönlicher Favorit ist.

when we as the Schallwelle jury created the new category “Your Own Way”, we were hoping for at least a few submissions. Well, we received almost fifty, and many of them were accompanied with elaborated information about the artists – how they discovered music as their passion, the importance of music in their lives and what drives them to go on making music. We have used this information to create a page for every artist – if available, with a picture and a link to the artist’s web site and discography. Even if the audience cannot vote in this category (which may change in the future), you have all you need to elect your personal favorite for “Your Own Way”.
